An integral part of Chinese life and universally considered to be one of the great cuisines of the world, Chinese cooking reflects the all round modern man in its most sophisticated form. The cooking challenge is one of the fun elements of balance in the Mr World 2007 competition and was eagerly awaited by many contestants. Twelve countries were short listed and paired to prepare a classic and deceptively complex Chinese dish under the expert guidance of two top Sanya chefs: sweet and sour prawns. Whereas Canada and Australia had a go at fusion cooking, Nigeria and Singapore made their demonstration visually the most entertaining. Lithuania and Norway took a very methodical approach, while Panama and Mexico brought an enormous creativity and style to their cooking. Ukraine and Bulgaria certainly entertained the crowd with their highly unusual cooking style, but in the end Italy and Lebanon proved to be the perfect team. Bringing together the right balance of sophistication, class and creativity, the Sanya chefs unanimously decided to highly commend them. The following day Italy and Lebanon received their special prize a wok so that they can each practice their culinary expertise on their return home.
