Mr World 2007 kicked off in earnest, as the Peoples Government of Sanya laid on a sumptuous welcome banquet for the contestants. VIP guests gathered on the grounds of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Yalong Bay for the first opportunity to meet the contestants.

Highlight of the festivities was lighting the Mr World Bowl of Fire, representing the spirit of sportsmanship, style and brotherhood. The audience of VIP guests, government dignitaries and contestants looked in awe, as the flame was ignited by Mexico.

As the young men presented themselves in groups on a purpose built stage, they welcomed the people of Sanya in Chinese, showing their appreciation for the great efforts shown to make them feel welcome.
