Kamal Ibrahim - Mr World 2010

After winning his national title in Ireland, Kamal travelled to the Mr World 2010 contest in Korea determined to make the most of the experience. He became a popular figure during the contest and was willing to try his hand at everything from cooking to sports and singing. He won the Mr World title in spectacular fashion in the Grand Final in Incheon, Korea’s tomorrow city, beating Czech Republic and Nigeria who came 2nd and 3rd respectively. 

Kamal plans to use his prize money to go towards obtaining a commercial pilot’s license, bringing him a step closer to fulfilling his boyhood dream of becoming a stunt pilot and flying in the Red Bull air race. “My dream would be to one day fly and be recognised as one of the best stunt pilots in the world” Kamal said.

Since winning the media response has been huge. He returned home to Ireland to see himself in every national paper while he has also been featured internationally including The Daily Mirror (UK), ABC News (USA), R7 (Brazil), Qué.es (Spain), The Province (Canada), Thanh Nien (Vietnam) and El Universal (Venezuela).

The new Mr World, Kamal is an ambassador and a role model to young men around the world. “I plan to use the Mr World title to help educate people about the competition. I had an incredible time in Korea and now have 73 friends in different countries around the world. I think everyone should do something like this at some point in their lives”.

Now back in Ireland, Kamal has become a national celebrity appearing on national TV shows, radio programmes and in the newspapers almost everyday… and his journey has only just begun.
